OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.212 (a)(1) provides that machinery guarding procedures must be in place by the employer to PROTECT THE OPERATOR and other employees in the machine area from ACCIDENTAL CONTACT WITH MOVING PARTS of the machine.
OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1920.212 (a)(3)(ii) states that the POINT OF OPERATION of machines whose operation exposes the operator to injury MUST BE PROTECTED.
OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1920.212 (a)(3)(ii) also provides that the PROTECTIVE DEVICE must comply with any applicable standard and, in the absence of specific standards, must be designed to PREVENT ANY PART OF THE BODY FROM ENTERING THE DANGER ZONE DURING THE OPERATING CYCLE.
