Loading docks are busy and sometimes dangerous places. Most of the time, in this type of environment, you have trucks and semi-trailers going in and out of the approach and employees working around the dock.

These activities could cause incidents if appropriate equipment, systems and procedures are not in place.

Having a systematic safety strategy in place can help reduce the potential for risky conditions and accidents on site.

Imagining a systematic approach that incorporates automatic vehicle restraint systems, vertical dock levellers, proper seals/shelters, proper sequence of operations, and a communication system is the best way to secure a loading dock as part of the supply chain. Discover the possible solutions in this area.

What is a loading dock?

A loading dock is the place where a truck of goods is unloaded or loaded, for transfer to or from warehouses. It is therefore a very popular place for pedestrians and vehicles such as forklifts, hence the importance of safety and prevention measures.

In addition, this area must be protected from dust, moisture or other elements that may contaminate or deteriorate the stored goods.

We present you with the best solutions to ensure the smooth loading/unloading of goods at this level, the safety of the products and the limitation of energy losses.

Dok-Commander® smart control box

The Dok-Commander® system combines the control of multiple attachments at each position to provide a complete loading dock safety system. Several options are available. These allow you to configure a smart control box tailored to your security protocols.

On the one hand, the interlocking option ensures that the equipment is used in the correct order. On the other hand, the Lok-Vu™ outdoor camera option increases safety and productivity by confirming the presence of a trailer outside on the control box.

The Rite-Vu™ System

The Rite-Vu Indicator Light™ Communication System is a complete visual detection and alerting system. This is a similar product to the Dok-Commander smart control box. It is composed of 4 distinct products: Approach-Vu, Pedestrian-Vu, Corner-Vu and Leveler-Vu, for a complete visual security system. Discover their respective roles:

  • Approach-Vu adds an extra layer of pedestrian safety outside the building to the loading dock. A lighting and horn system, integrated into the Dok-Lok® vehicle restraint system, warns pedestrians with clear visual and audible alerts in the driving approach when a support vehicle is detected.
  • Pedestrian-Vu visually warns loading dock personnel with a blue light beam that a forklift is inside a trailer.
  • Corner-Vu allows the forklift driver to immediately know the status of the Dok-Lok® before entering the trailer.
  • Leveler-Vu confirms the status of the Dok-Lok® to the forklift driver while they are inside the trailer.

A few words about Dok-Lok® systems

Dok-Lok® vehicle restraint systems are designed to provide the best possible safety for your application.

Dok-Lok® systems are the only restraint systems in the industry that ensure constant communication of the securement status to the forklift driver. They are recognized worldwide for the following criteria:

  • Their exclusive safety features, which prevent the trailer from straying from the dock by offering more solutions than any other restraint system.
  • Their proprietary indicator light communication system, which ensures constant communication of the Dok-Lok's® status to the forklift driver, the loading dock, and while it is inside the trailer.
  • Their superior quality is due to outstanding design features, high construction standards and years of research and development.
  • Their long-lasting and proven reliability, as evidenced by the list of many regular customers.

Vertical Leveling Dock

Some sensitive goods such as food products require special precautions to limit the risk of contamination or deterioration.

Vertical dock levellers are designed to reduce the entry of dust, debris and rodents into the facility and eliminate energy loss.

These devices allow the doors of trucks and trailers to open inside the loading dock rather than when the vehicle approaches.
